Poor Theater of Monticchiello

Categories:

The Poor Theater of Monticchiello was born in the 60s of the last century, from the need to express dissent for the crumbling of the sharecropping system, an unease that was also reflected in the most current issues of Italian society at the time. The ability to make shareable content great immediately made a sounding board, so as to attract a large audience and great personalities. The Poor Theater still today presents a play performed by non-professional actors who, acting in the square, stage their individualities, which are at the same time close to those of each spectator.

A broad project which, since the 1980s, has been transformed into a Community Cooperative, managing to set up more business realities, involving the workforce and promoting tourism development. Poor Theater today manages two restaurants, a tourist apartment, an electric bike shop, the Tepotratos Museum and many accommodation and social services. Oppio Novo actively participates in the project and maintains an active dialogue with the community, made up of experiences and recreational moments.
