The air is filled with lavender and cyclamen.
Josif Brodskij
Lavender is a “rustic” medicinal plant that prefers sunny and well-drained soils. It develops in the form of a shrub, it does not reach large dimensions but tends to develop very wide. Its branching makes it a very thick plant starting from ground level.
Our small plot, facing south near the bee hives, is home to six different types of lavender: Casola, Matheronne, Sumiens, Grosso, Vera and R.C. The ears are harvested by hand in two different periods: at the beginning of flowering for consumption, and at the end of flowering, when the bees hardly visit the plants by now, for the production of scented sachets.
